AMS Avondale is a Grade K-8 Charter School that opened in 2019 and is located in Tolleson, AZ. The school offers an advanced curriculum focused on a combination of liberal arts, science, technology, engineering, and math. Students are encouraged to learn at an accelerated pace, and tutoring is offered for students as requested.
The reception area provides an open space to greet visitors and observe students throughout the school day. The red accent-colored walls and chairs offset the neutral coloring of the hallway interior walls. A large window provides a secure view of the parking lot, while the window shade prevents excessive desert heat and light in the corridor at mid-day.
The green and spacious exterior provides open and covered areas for students to gather for athletic activities.
The interior design of the full-sized basketball court includes the school's emblem emblazoned on the court floor. The walls include the school accent colors in red and maroon. The gymnasium doubles as a school assembly meeting area, with a large stage for presentations and events.
Wide hallway corridors permit the movement of large groups of students and faculty throughout the school day. The bright red lockers and red trim of each doorway accentuate the interior color theme of the school.
The well-lit and carpeted classrooms contain ample desk and chair space. A large whiteboard covers the span of the classroom wall, with an overhead projector for the teacher's lessons and student instruction.
American Leadership Academy, Fieldhouse

ALA Queen Creek High School is a Grade 7 through 12 Middle and High School, located at 23728 S. Hawes Road in Queen Creek, AZ.
The Field House is a 34,000 square-foot, multi-use facility boasting the following amenities: multiple basketball and volleyball courts with scoreboards; seating for over 1400 persons; a state-of-the-art weight room; a superior audio system; and a film study room.
On September 12, 2019, Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic reported that the Field House facilities are comparable to state-of-the-art college facilities. The school’s objective is to incorporate and upgrade its facilities, modeled upon those available at the university level.

Academy of Math & Science, Peoria

AMS Peoria, a tuition free charter school, was founded in 2019 and serves 900 students, in Grades K through 8. The school is located at 7785 W. Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ.
The school's building elements include artificial turf play areas, a soccer field, paved and landscaped site work, a covered basketball court, and locker corral.
The project effectuated a 30,000 ground square foot renovation of the existing buildings on site, including seven modular buildings and the gymnasium.
Building elements for this phase of the project include an engineered metal building gymnasium, stage, warming kitchen, administrative areas, offices, a secure lobby and 19 classrooms.
The paving and parking on the property site has been removed and renovated, with existing elements, including perimeter fences and walls, enhanced and repurposed to upgrade the facilities.
AMS Peoria’s advanced curriculum includes foreign language courses in Russian and Mandarin, STEM programs including robotics and programming, physical education, sports, and extracurricular clubs.
Sun Valley Academy Avondale

Sun Valley Academy Avondale is a Grade K through 8 tuition-free charter school located at 1515 N. 117th Avenue in Avondale, AZ. The school’s advanced curriculum focuses on teaching math at an accelerated rate of one grade above a student’s current enrollment level. Sun Valley Academy coursework includes preparation for students to meet all requirements of standardized state testing.
The Sun Valley Academy Avondale project includes a 40,000 GSF building, with 30 regular classrooms, four of which are designated kindergarten rooms with toilets. There is also a 715 SF SPED classroom, administrative offices, and restrooms.
A full size chemistry lab is provided as part of the 30 classrooms. A full size gymnasium doubles as a cafeteria, with a gym curtain, sound partition for a stage, and stage curtains.
The project provides gym and table storage. A warming kitchen, a with roll up door to the gym, is also included.
PAIDEIA ACADEMY

Paideia Academy, located at 1535 Baseline Rd. in Phoenix, AZ presently serves students in Grades K through 8. The academy is in the process of expanding its student base to include high school students, Grades 9 through 12 as of 2024.
Paideia Academy focuses on the academic development of its students by requiring monitored study of at least two hours per week outside of class. Students are also encouraged to supplement their academic coursework online through access to Khan Academy, providing additional tutoring in math and English.
The Paideia Academy project includes a 9,400 s.f. 8-classroom addition and interior modifications to the existing Paideia Academy building.
First floor improvements to the school include configuration of two ELA Humanities classrooms equipped with a partition, able to be combined to form one large classroom. A health and wellness - P.E. classroom are added with access to the exterior playground. An art room with provisions for a sink and kiln are also added, and an extension is made to the existing patio roof.
Second floor improvements include the addition of two science classrooms, with associated lab space. The existing teacher work room is reconfigured as a math classroom. Additional improvements include expansion of the play area by the consolidation of parking space. The existing play structure was removed and replaced with a rock climbing wall area.
Paideia Academy's beautiful exterior space includes a large field for athletics.
The covered area provides shade on desert heat days so that students and faculty may continue to assemble outside for recreational purposes.
LEMAN ACADEMY ORO VALLEY

Leman Academy Oro Valley, a tuition-free charter school, is located at 12255 N La Cañada Dr, in Oro Valley, AZ. The school uses classical education as its model for teaching. This method includes the use of logic and rhetoric, in addition to the required subjects of English, mathematics, and science. Students are also taught Latin, beginning in the third grade.
Leman's classrooms are designed for group study, with large tables and comfortable chairs.
Large windows with natural lighting supplement the interior ceiling lights.
Each classroom is equipped with whiteboards extending the length of the wall, and overhead projection equipment for the teacher's instruction.
BASIS INDEPENDENT BROOKLYN

BASIS Independent Brooklyn, is located at 556 Columbia Street in Brooklyn, New York, and serves Grades 3 through 12. The rigorous academic curriculum focuses on a combination of liberal arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses. Grade 6 through 8 students are required to take 7.5 hours per week of a combination of biology, chemistry, and physics classes. Overall, teachers are required to reserve a minimum of 2 hours per week for student support. The success of the BASIS Independent Brooklyn program has led to the expansion to a second site, accommodating Grades Pre-K through 2.
To graduate from high school, students are required to pass four college preparation AP (advanced placement) classes. The academic dividends pay off for the students, who pass the AP classes at a 96% success rate, with 84% of the students granted acceptance to the top 50 colleges, nationwide.
The BASIS Independent Brooklyn Campus includes a state-of-the art basketball court and gymnasium. The school's athletic program includes co-ed basketball conditioning from Grades 5 through 12, and strength and conditioning circuit training from Grades 7 through 12. BASIS Independent Brooklyn has also developed its competitive middle school level soccer team, which has successfully dominated league play in New York City. The BASIS Independent Brooklyn classrooms have the advantage of being located in an area of the city providing panoramic views of light and open space. The art classroom permits students to display their artwork on the ledges of the expansive widows. BASIS CHANDLER

BASIS Chandler, a Grade 5 through 12 Charter School, moved into its CCA, LLC designed facility in 2016. The school is located at 4825 S. Arizona Avenue in Chandler, AZ.
In 2018, BASIS Chandler was ranked as the number 2 best high school in the nation, and the number 2 best charter high school in the nation. From its inception, it has consistently received high national rankings and recognition by U.S. News and World Report and The Washington Post.
BASIS Chandler's sleek design includes a large gymnasium and general-purpose assembly room, with athletic wood flooring. Slat-styled windows let in the abundant natural light, yet the interior remains climate-controlled so that the facility remains comfortable for occupancy in the desert heat.
The open design of the BASIS Chandler facility brings steel support to the forefront as an artistic, structural accent. The yellow color of the steel components matches the strength of the natural interior lighting. The brick walls, with lockers and flooring in contrasting yet complementary colors, present a unified and pleasant effect.
BASIS Chandler encourages its students to pursue liberal arts courses in tandem with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses (STEM). Classes in economics and Mandarin are only two of the many classes offered by BASIS Chandler. Senior high school students may complete an internship course as part of their curriculum, with the off-course work permitted to be completed anywhere in the world. This unusual offering is only one of the many aspects that sets BASIS Chandler at the forefront of education.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN CHARTER SCHOOL, GILBERT CAMPUS

Benjamin Franklin Charter School, Gilbert Campus, serves Grades K through 6, and is located at 1475 S. Val Vista Drive in Gilbert, AZ. It is ranked within the top ten percent of Arizona's 445 school districts, with a curriculum focused on a liberal arts education, in combination with teaching virtues and values within the community.
The entranceway and reception area of the school features a large window above the vestibule for abundant natural lighting, and a glass doorway and windows capitalizing further on light and street visibility.
Cushioned chairs and floor tile arranged in a pleasant diagonal pattern add to the warmth of the interior decor.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN CHARTER SCHOOL, CRISMON CAMPUS

Benjamin Franklin Charter School, Crismon Campus is located at 22120 E. Queen Creek Road in Queen Creek, AZ. It is ranked within the top 10% of Arizona schools. This K - 6 campus focuses on a fine arts and sciences curriculum, as well as development in the subjects of character, virtue, and citizenship.
The high vaulted ceiling and steel framed windows accentuate the school's entranceway, with its view of dramatic natural skylight. A wide view of the school's parking lot provides security with the ability to view the ingress and egress of students and visitors.
Exterior cafeteria seating provides students with a sunny place to meet for lunch, snacks, or recess socializing. Patio tiles and a solid concrete walkway remain easy to clean and maintain.
Large building windows, and wide entrance and exit doors provide an ability to monitor students throughout the day.
BASIS ORO VALLEY PRIMARY

BASIS Oro Valley Primary, a tuition-free charter school, is located at 11129 N Oracle Rd, in Oro Valley, AZ.
CCA, LLC was selected to design and provide construction documents for the new 32,000 square foot school building, for Grades 5 through 12. This project was designed, permitted and built on budget and on time from start to finish in an amazing 5 months.
BASIS Oro Valley's features include two multipurpose spaces, a 3,000 square foot gymnasium, and a 2,600 square foot cafeteria, both adjacent to a covered outdoor play area.
BASIS TUCSON NORTH

BASIS Tucson North is a tuition-free charter school located at 740 E River Rd, in Tucson, AZ, and serves the Grade 5 through 12 educational community.
According to a Newsweek Magazine ranking in 2008, BASIS Schools was voted the number one high school system in the nation. CCA, LLC is proud to be selected as their Architect.
CCA designed and completed two facilities at once, in Tucson and Scottsdale, under very tight budget and timing constraints. Challenges for the Tucson facility included adding space to an existing building, and vetting the design to meet requirements by the City of Tucson, without delay. Both projects remain a resounding success, as they both opened on time and on budget.
BASIS Tucson North opened in 1998 and remains one of the largest schools in the BASIS charter school network. Its middle school students have won chess championships, and music students have been accepted to the prestigious all-state music festivals. Academics focus on a liberal arts education and teachers encourage students in every grade to focus on the organization of complex tasks, and time management.
The high vaulted entranceway at the front of the school provides abundant natural light. The colorful hallway art compliments the color of the exterior steel beams for an aesthetic effect. The wide angle of the entranceway provides the viewpoint to observe the safe arrival and departure of the students and staff.
BASIS Tucson North offers a wealth of extracurricular activities for its students. There are 12 areas of athletics, 2 honor societies, and 60 clubs of interest, including Model UN, Dance Committee, and Mock Trial. AMERICAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, APPLIED TECHNOLOGY

American Leadership Academy School of Applied Technology in Mesa, AZ, is one of CCA, LLC's current projects under construction.
The rendering of the school's gymnasium displays the full-sized basketball court and courtside bleacher seating. The school's colors and symbols are emblazed on the court's flooring.
The spacious entrance lobby and wide corridors accommodate the volume of students and staff moving through the facility. The attractive view of the gymnasium, framed by large sliding glass doors, contributes to the open decor of the building.
Glass windows and doorways at the entrance of the school provide abundant natural lighting and security to observe the safety of students and staff as they enter and exit the building. The covered front entranceway is large, to accommodate the number of students, staff, and visitors, as they enter and exit the parking area.

Leona Mission Heights Preparatory School serves Grades 9 through 12, with a rigorous academic program to prepare students for college attendance. Leona's curriculum also emphasizes aspects of motivation, community service, civic duty, and career readiness.
The one-story campus spans a city block, with greenery and parking.
The school's full-sized classrooms include large desks and comfortable seating. Whiteboards and overhead projection screens assist teachers with their lessons and instruction.
The expansive interior of the school includes a modern aesthetic, with its suspended overhead lighting and high ceilings. Simple, neutral-colored walls and flooring contribute to the industrial theme.

American Leadership Academy, Ironwood

The American Leadership Academy Ironwood is a Grade K through 12 tuition-free charter school campus, located at 850 W. Combs Road in Queen Creek, AZ.
CCA designed the 39,667 GSF with 22 classrooms for grades K-8, the 9,500 GSF nine classroom addition for grades 7-8, and the 44,852 GSF Grades 9-12 High School building with 36 classrooms. The high school was designed to tie into other auditorium, cafeteria, and gym buildings on site.
American Leadership Academy Ironwood's building elements include paved drives, parking areas, bus drop-off areas, fire lanes, retention basins, and half-street improvements along Combs Road.
ALA Ironwood’s curriculum is centered on core values outlined by the acronym R.A.I.S.E. – Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service and Excellence. Students are offered the option to accelerate their learning. They may earn college credit toward an associate’s degree while still enrolled in high school, in partnership with Snow College.
American Leadership Academy, Signal Butte

American Leadership Academy, Signal Butte is a new single story 30 classroom elementary school prototype, modeled upon previously built ALA school buildings. The school is 49,634 square feet, and built upon a 7.39 acre site located at 22512 Signal Butte Road, Queen Creek, AZ.
The building elements include a full size basketball court and volleyball court, which doubles as a cafeteria. The full service kitchen provides daily lunches for students, and the performing arts area accommodates school drama classes, music classes and school assemblies.
The school is dedicated to the educational development of its community. Elementary school students learn and develop leadership skills through participation in student government. The children also assist in planning school events, assemblies and fundraisers.
Academy of Math & Science, Massa

Academy of Math and Science, MASSA is a K-8 tuition free charter school located at 434 W. Laredo Road, in Tucson, AZ, and has served the community for the past decade.
The school’s curriculum focuses on teaching students the practical application of math, science and technology skills outside of the classroom. AMS MASSA students have also won awards in AZ regional engineering competitions.

The AMS South Mountain Campus is a new 11,200 Square Foot, two-story building addition located at 1445 W. Baseline Road, in Phoenix, AZ 85041.
The addition features:

- 1 Print Room.
Students are able to join STEM teams for entrance to science competitions at the regional, state, and national levels. Students may also participate in extracurricular, after-school clubs in music, the arts, and computer science.

Academy of Math & Science, Desert Sky is a Grade K through 8 tuition-free charter school completed in July, 2018. The school is located at 5701 W. McDowell Road, in Phoenix, AZ.
The project is a 53,000 GSF ground-up, partial two-story building with a full gymnasium, warming kitchen, 32 classrooms, 1 sped classroom, offices, administrative areas, a secure lobby, play areas, and a covered basketball court.
The school offers its students a full athletics program including soccer, track and field, basketball, and football.
Students also participate in team science competitions, and after school clubs offering chess, language, and computer studies.

BASIS Dream City Phoenix is a Grade 6 through 12 tuition-free charter school located at 13231 N. 22nd Street, Phoenix, AZ. Established in 2012, the school moved to its present site in 2018.
Basis Phoenix South Primary

BASIS Phoenix South Primary is a Grade K through 6 tuition-free charter school located at 5700 S. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, completed in July, 2016.
The 300 student facility was expanded to meet additional demands in 2017. New amenities include:
A 3,217 GSF addition of three classrooms, a storage room, two unisex restrooms, and an office.
Wood frame stud walls, and a metal panel exterior with vertical windows are added to match the existing facility.
Solatube skylights are installed in the hallway.
An exterior door is added to one of the classrooms, now leading to the play area.
A new sidewalk on the west side of the facility provides for egress.
Spray foam roofing is added to match the existing roofing.

LEONA Group Glendale GlenView

The Leona Group Glendale Glenview campus is a Grade 9 through 12 tuition-free charter school located at 4386 W. Bethany Home Road, in Glendale, AZ. The school was established in 2013, with curriculum focused on language arts and STEM courses. Students may also choose elective classes to explore interests in journalism, performing arts, geography, language arts, politics and psychology.
The 38,000 GSF, two-story building provides the following amenities:
18 classrooms, including a science lab and art room.
8 offices, including a conference room and administration area. Teacher’s work rooms, a conference room, additional office space, a file room, storage rooms, and a secure lobby are also provided.
Restroom space for students, with separate staff restrooms are provided.
Coated foam roofing, and all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing needs are incorporated in the design.
LEONA Group rIDGEVIEW

The Leona Group Ridgeview College Preparatory High School is a 38,000 ground square foot, single building with a two-story classroom wing. The high school is constructed on a 5 acre site, and located at 1645 W. Skyline Drive in San Tan Valley, AZ 85142.
Ridgeview, a tuition-free public charter school, offers a rigorous academic track, enabling students to earn early college credit while completing high school. Advanced students qualify for the Grand Canyon Diploma, awarded upon completion of college and career readiness courses in STEM and liberal arts.
The property amenities contain:
- 20 Classrooms, including a science lab and art room;
- 6 offices, including a conference room and administrative area;
- An exterior play area and full sized-basketball court; and
- A cafeteria and warming kitchen incorporated into the gymnasium design.
The entire project is developed and constructed with the full complement of architects, engineers and designers.
